"Oak Tree in Lavender"
This
painting was excecuted in the South of France after a picture.
The canvas is made of linen; a much different support for his oil
painting that offers a much easier way to paint faster. The
lavenders are luring us to go behind the oak tree. "The roof of
the painting," the harmony of the leaves spread by the tree from left
to right, is symbolic of protection--a mixed technique of "modern
impressionism." Later, the artist donated this work to a very
good friend, who could not go back to France, his birthplace, because
of his terminal disease. |
