"Poppy
Field II"
This
second work about poppies is inspired from the earlier one. There
are no trees in the wheat field, only a little farm very far
away. The weather is stormy, but it's not raining. The
effects of "clair obscur" are often interpreted by the artist--perhaps
to show his feelings about the light of the colors--in this case
between green and yellow. The size of the farm in the middle of
this gigantic stormy setup could be an interpretation of life.
This painting was done when Thierry was told his mother had contracted
leukemia.
