"Chapel In The Meadows"

The religious theme of this painting is directly linked to the emotional state of the artist during his trip to Marseille. The colors are used with subtlety to express the end of the day, or perhaps the end of a life. Long shadows dominate the painting, yet the chapel is still "illuminated" by the last rays of the sun. This impressionistic work, after a picture, is a second, much smaller, painting than the first one which was sold to a private collector.
