"Camargue"

There is a region in the South of France where the river Rhône merges into a delta before flowing into the Mediterranean Sea. Camargue is a sanctuary for wild horses and the simple life. The scene is in motion--the blue of the river and the sea is roving because of the dominant wind called "mistral." The painting is a study of the effects light gives during the end of the day, just before sunset.
